Description
Itokawa (25143 Itokawa, 1998 SF36) is a near-earth asteroid discovered in 1998 that is named after Japanese rocket engineer Hideo Itokawa. In 2005 Hayabusa spacecraft explored this S-type asteroid, and with the dimensions of approximately 330 meters, it is the smallest celestial body ever photographed or visited by an automatic probe as of 2019. In 2010, Hayabusa brought samples of dust and regolith from the asteroid’s surface to the Earth for study of the evolution of the Solar System.
The pattern of this papercraft model is larger and more detailed than the previous iteration, this time consisting of seven islands instead of the sole part. However, this version lacks mapped surface texture.
